Ideas for Electric Insulators and Broken Glass

I love these old electric pole insulators. My dad and brother gave me some a while back and I didn't know what to do with them. At Goodwill today I found 2 candle holders.  I knew they would be the perfect thing for my garden. They are very sturdy and if they rust just that much better. They were only .99 each.

I love this little snail and I've had it a long time, but it got broken last year. The whole back side is broken so I just sit it up against my planter and you can't tell.

I found some old pieces of glass plates in my woods. I'm sure you think that's wierd but many years ago there weren't any recycle centers. People had trash in the woods and covered it up. They had been washed up. Also found lots of cool old bottles.

Motorcycle riding and antique store

Thomas and I are having such a good time riding our motorcycle this summer. We usually ride in the late afternoon, but today we went early and stopped by my favorite antique store in Fairview, TN (Old Towne Antiques). Found this adorable jar called a Hottle. Never heard of it, but very cute.

Ruby loves birds and cages. This one was $4.00 because it has a bad place on the side.

I've been searching for this calendar for a while. It is 1975 the year we were married.  I love the fall scene at a church. We married on October 17th. Plan on making a wall hanging with some of our pictures included.

Antiques Collectables

I love collecting little porcelain objects.  Some of these I got at Goodwill for a dollar and some at antique stores for under $4.00 (that's my limit). The case came from Hobby Lobby. I loved it because it has that antique feel. I display it proudly in my dining room.

Dutch girls and a few vintage finds

I really love the little dutch girls pattern.  My mother-in-law gave me this pattern when my kids were very small.  She even helped me make a few of them. Then my grandmother helped me quilt.  These are new ones I've been working on.

Here all is going well, then all of a sudden....................
Somehow this doesn't look quite right. I actually did this one more time after this one.
Found these at a local thrift store. The zipper repair kit was dated 1957.

Happy Valentine's Day form the Grandkids

My sweet girls came by last night to decorate their Valentine boxes and they wanted to show them off.
Ruby has on her pj's I made from a knit sheet. This is the 4th one I've and the only picture. First 2 made from Fleece, the 3 rd made from flannel and the last one here in knit. The knit was the easiest to sew. I used McCall's pattern 6475. Very easy to make.
I made the dolls for the girls last week from Sewing with Children.

My Thrifting Adventures

This thrifting adventure is for 2 weeks worth of 4 different Goodwill stores, 4 other thrift stores.
First of all this little metal table brings back memories of  the 60's.  One of my aunt's had one similar when I was little. It comes apart easily to store. Perfect for the grandkids.  (Maybe now I won't have food on my bed).

I plan on putting this in my shop. The original cost was .25. It doesn't have a year on it. I'm guessing '50's.

I love the cheese tray. Just found it yesterday searching the thrift stores of Charlotte Ave. in Nashville.  I guess the side tray is for crackers.

I also found this tablecloth on Charlotte. Fits my table perfect.

I had this for a few weeks. Perfect for my dining table. My brother always needs a toothpick.

Crib mattress and sheets

My friend Angie's husband made a baby crib and needed a mattress for it.  I use 1 inch form 35.5 x 21. Then covered it with rubber sheeting and added a zipper to take off and wash. The foam and sheeting is so expensive. I couldn't believe it. Glad I had two 50% off coupons, but still too high.

Then I made her 2 sheets, because I thought it was an odd size. Turns out I had 2 little vintage clown sheets that fit perfect. I had sheeting and fabric left over so I made her 2 lap covers. Turned out pretty good.

Founds lots of vintage sheets and pillowcases

I have found the most amazing sheets this week. All of these sheets were at the same Goodwill store.
I love the beautiful floral with the sunflowers.  I had this in a pillowcase once and made a bag.
Never had the pink or the green below.

Never had any of  these 3 sheets before.

AI found 6 pillowcases at another Goodwill store. The yellow floral at the bottom is my favorite. I had a sheet once in it, but was faded.

New sheets, my new (old) planter and SMS winning

Since I've used so many sheets on my new quilt I just had to buy some more. These 2 were .99 each and the pillowcase was .99.

I had seen a swan planter just like this one at an antique store and it reminded me that my Mom had one when I was little.  She said "I think I still have it.  It's in the smokehouse and very dirty and maybe even cracked".  I said "I don't care if it's cracked or dirty.  I want it.".  So here it is with some lovely ivy she gave me.  She said her Mom gave it to her. I remember it sitting on the coffee table with  a philodendron plant inside.  My aunt on my Dad's side also has this swan.

I won this lovely fabric on Sew Mam Sew giveaway. Thanks Christy at Hopeful Threads.
