My new vintage sheet quilt

I've been working on my king size quilt all week.  Now I'm ready to start quilting.  I made it from 12" squares.  The backing is 4 sheets cut to fit.  I wanted them really big so it wouldn't take as long to finish.  These are my very favorite sheets. I love them all. A few of the squares I swapped with Lani at Create. Can't wait to finish.

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway

It's Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day.  I am participating once again.  I do ask that you become a follower for an extra entry. Thanks so much.

I'm giving away a diaper, beach, run around town bag.   Fabric is Legacy Studio Fresh Fusion. Lining is peach color vintage sheet and is interfaced to make it sturdy.  Plenty of pockets on the inside.  The handles are nylon webbing and closure is grosgrain ribbon.  I did make it to sell on Etsy and once again it didn't sell. Now I can give it away. It's a big bag, 18" across and 10" high.

Good luck.  I will ship internationally.  The giveaway is open until May 25th at 5 PM PST.

Polka-Dot dress for a chair

Finally finished this polka dot dress for a chair I painted white.  This is for Layla and Ruby's desk in their room.  I had seen one in an antique store back in October and really wanted to try it myself.  It's made from a thrifted sheet and scrap fabrics. There was a lot of trial and error involved.  But in the end it turned out just the way I wanted.

Embroidered Pillows in my Shop

I've been working on these pillows for a while and now it's time to start selling them.  You can see them in more detail in my shop. I'm selling them for $18 each. All are made from vintage hankerchiefs, doilies, pillowcases and dresser scarves. The backs are all from vintage sheets.  I really enjoy making them and hate to part with them, but you can have too many. If anyone wants a special pillow made from items you have just contact me.

2 tops from thrifted sheets

It was hard to cut these sheets, but what else was I going to do with them.  I love them both equally.  They fit perfect.  The first top is Simplicity 2892.  The other one is Simplicity 2594.  Both patterns were pretty easy to make.

Lori's House Warming

Lori, her friend Amanda and I worked really hard Friday and Saturday to hang pictures and clean up Lori's house for the House Warming.
She still needs to hang a few more and put up some other things, but it looks really good.

We had lots of good fun, family and friends.

Some of these pictures are really dark. I'll have to work on that.

I hung up the canopies last night. I really wasn't sure how I was going to do that, but the girls love the way they turned out. If anyone is interested I'll let you know how I did it.

New Noodlehead Clutch

I decided to try a new purse pattern and I love it. It's from Anna Graham at Noodlehead.  I'll have to admit it started out slow for me.  The first part of the instructions was a little hard for me to understand. I do highly recommend it.  I plan on making many more.

The fabric is Amy Butler Temple Tulips (Soul Blossoms collection).

Feels like 1978

There is a story behind this beautiful sewing machine.
About a month before my son was born (1978) I got a New Home sewing machine. The salesman came to my house and set it up for me. My mother-in-law never had a machine so she also got one just like mine. Mine worked great for 20 years. I really hated it when it stopped working. I've bought 2 since that one. My mother-in-law used hers for hemming and piecing quilts. She hasn't used it in 10 years. The family told me to get it yesterday and I happened to have an empty cabinet to put it in. It's works great and brings back lots of memories.

Ethel Mary is not doing well at all. Yesterday she could barely walk and didn't act like her usual self. She lives with her daughter and they go to Hardee's every morning to eat. My husband and I took her yesterday. She couldn't get out of the car and I had to feed her the little bit she ate. She hasn't gotten up yet this morning. Hope she feels good enough to go out. Please keep her in your prayers.

This is her sewing basket.

Easter Dresses

Layla wouldn't smile because she didn't find the prize egg, but this was the best picture of her dress. She chose the frogs from Joann's and I used Simplicity 2464. Wish I had gotten a picture of the back. It has elastic and a keyhole opening.
I had bought this fabric and pattern at a thrift store last year (the nine buttons were included) and Ruby really liked it. The pattern was Simplicity 7534.

Everyone have a happy Easter.

What's Better Than Free

Went to this great yard sale last weekend and brought 10 plates for $2.00. My husband found lots of goodies that he likes (they are still in the box from the yard sale).
We checked on Craigslist and they had everything else free for the taking. So I found this great serving bowl with a little chip out on the bottom.
These 2 adorable owl ash trays. I almost bought them the first day.
This is a pottery barn tea and cup set, (it has a chip out on one side.) It will look great in Lori's house.
The best free thing ever. These 2 chairs. They were torn in the seams on each side and the fabric was pulled away in the back. I started on it as soon as I got home. They turned out beautiful.
