Ruby's pumpkin and Layla's new doll

Ruby has Layla's eyeball balloon from her birthday party and it's still up. I carved this little pumpkin for her and we put in a battery votive candleLayla is so proud of doll we both made. It was made from one of my old tops and some of her favorite fabric for the skirt and top. We also made one for Ruby, but she took it home before I could get a picture.

Layla is 7

Wow. What a weekend. It was a busy one, but so much fun. Saturday Ruby got to go to a friend from school's birthday party. The balloon lady made a beautiful crown for Ruby. Layla wanted a bat. She did her best to create one for her. Oh yeah, Layla is a vampire.
Later that evening we went to a school event called Barnaroo. They had live music and lots of food and games. Lori had Layla's birthday party there. Yesterday we had a family party with a few neighbor kids for another party at my house.

Gown refashion

Made a gown for Ruby from Butterick 4910. It was super easy to make. Made from a moo-moo (that's what my generation called them). see below. The fabric is very pretty and silky. My girls love silky gowns. I thought it would have been enought to make 2 gowns. But only one.

Little Monsters

Layla and I made 2 needle holders. They are really too easy. This pattern was in Sewing for Children book.

Here's the little monsters. I did the sewing, but Layla did help with the decorations. Layla's birthday party is next Saturday and we are making these to give away as party gifts. Some of them remind me of The Pirates That Don't Do Anything.

Great finds at Goodwill

All of my items are from Goodwill, but not the same one. I got all of this great thread. Some are wooden spools for $2.00. Ruby loves unicorns, so she'll like this in her room. It's a 5x7 picture for $.99.
This pressure cooker was $14.99. If it works that would be a great price. I am a little scared to use it. It's called Maid of Honor. Don't know how old it is. I have 14 days to take it back.

These $.99 shirts will be monsters from our new book called "Sewing for Children". Maybe this weekend.
I love my sheets. They were even 1/2 price. The yellow one looks a lot like this pink one and this blue one.

More crafting pictures

Ruby designed her own necklace. She gave me the materials and told me what she wanted. She's going to be a little designer.

Project every weekend

I got this new book called Sewing for Children. It has some pretty simple instructions with a little guidance from an adult. This weekend we did the yo-yo necklace.
Layla picked out everything and I helped her make the necklace. She made it for her friend's birthday. Then she made this sewing box from a tin. Well, we followed the directions, but the lid won't fit after the fabric is put on. She's also giving this to her friend.

Have you ever lost an earring?

Jenene had given me this beautiful pair of earrings. I'm always losing earrings. This necklace was Vickie's. It's kind of plain to wear alone. So I added the beautiful earring and now I love it. Hope you like the idea. I'm sure I'm not the first to discover this.

Tiny Happy Bag

I've been wanting to make Tiny Happy's shoulder bag ever since I started blogging. So here it is. I made some adjustments. The strap is about 4 inches longer and the bag is 8 inches wider. I'm working on another for Lori that needs to be even bigger. The fabric was a remnant from Joann's and the lining is thrifted. Also used one of my vintage buttons.

Check out this giveaway

Jenn over at Make Mine Blue is going a great giveaway. You get this adorable bag, notebook and some awesome fabric. Check her out. I'm a new follower of Jenn's.

My buffet table

The before picture is really bad, but I did do a lot of sanding to get down to the wood.
Got this cute little shelf at Goodwill and hung it above by buffet table.
Now look at the after. I really love it. The seller said it was an antique. The doors are beautiful.
