Making Primitives

I've had a busy life since I last posted in 2015.  I still do a lot of sewing, crafting, gardening.  My grandkids are 24, 17, and 15.  They don't seem to need me as much so I have lots of time on my hands.

I've been making primitives the last couple years. Brenda Sanker @ https://www.etsy.com/shop/brendasanker has lots of great patterns.  Here are some I've made.

Mr. Ollie Rabbit
Rabbit Annie
Moon Ghost
Mr. Crowley

Witch and Ghost is a set of 4 in her pattern
Hagatha the Witch
Owl and Pumpkins
Snowflake Snowman
Moon Ghost
Spring Frogs

I really enjoy making her patterns.  They're only $10 each.

DIY Projects for my Home

It's been a while, I know. I've been working on lots of DIY projects.
Painted this adorable shelf. I know it looks the same color as the wall, but it's not. My Dad is always giving me cool old things he has in his garage. He gave me the lock and doorknobs They were from his Dad's old house (they moved from in 1975), The thing in the center was on my Dad's basement door around 1962. I love the idea of these things being used at my Dad's and Grandfather's house.

Decided to put these printer's drawers on top of my cabinet and add some old jars and cola bottles on the bottom picture.

Got this awesome shelf at Joann's for $8.00 on clearance and added some chicks and some older items.
Updated this little tool box and added my smaller bottles. They are so cute.
My husband has 3 old rakes and I liked this one the best. Love me some rust.

Repurposed Linens

I've been collecting vintage linens for years. I really love them all. I had been wanting a runner for my buffet table and just decided to use some of my linens. I measured the length and width then cut some fabric the correct size of the buffet. Then just started adding embroidery linens and used feather stitch on my sewing machine to attach them.  Hemmed the whole thing.

I love it.

Ideas for Electric Insulators and Broken Glass

I love these old electric pole insulators. My dad and brother gave me some a while back and I didn't know what to do with them. At Goodwill today I found 2 candle holders.  I knew they would be the perfect thing for my garden. They are very sturdy and if they rust just that much better. They were only .99 each.

I love this little snail and I've had it a long time, but it got broken last year. The whole back side is broken so I just sit it up against my planter and you can't tell.

I found some old pieces of glass plates in my woods. I'm sure you think that's wierd but many years ago there weren't any recycle centers. People had trash in the woods and covered it up. They had been washed up. Also found lots of cool old bottles.

Repurposed Printer's Drawer

My Dad and I both worked at a printing company for many years. When the company got rid of an old cabinet he took it home. He had these cute little drawers that he had been using for nuts, bolts and nails, plus a stack he didn't use at all. He said he had been burning them for firewood. What. I couldn't have that. So he gave them all to me.

Aren't they the cutest. I used one during the holidays and added pinecones and ornaments.

I got these cute little drawer pulls at Hobby Lobby (1/2 off of course). Drilled holes for the pulls, then drilled 2 holes in the back and put it up on the wall as a shelf. What do you think? I love it.

Purses and Aprons added to my Etsy Shop

Today I decided to open my Etsy Shop again. I have made quite a few things lately and wanted to sell them. Apron at the top modeled by my beautiful daughter is made from an upcycled pair of jeans with vintage fabric and ric rak on the pockets.
This is a child size apron from a thrifted tablecloth. Also have an adult size. They really are cute.

I've also added 4 new bags so come by for a visit.

Thanks, Brenda

Elsa and Anna Dresses

It has been a while but I have been really busy sewing and crafting.
My precious girls wanted to dress like Elsa and Anna when they attended the Frozen On Ice last Sunday. I mostly followed the McCall's M7000 pattern. Ruby wanted her dress to be the cornation dress so I had to do some altering. Layla's drape is different from the pattern. They did have a good time and lots of kids were dressed in costumes.

New Wallet and Cushion

Really needed a new wallet with lots of places for cards. This one holds 38(also great for holding coupons). It was a free tutorial from Infarrantly Creative.  The instructions were fairly easy but I had to go over it a lot to figure out some of the sewing.  The outside fabric is a shower curtain I got at Target for $4.00 and also made a cushion below.
