Day with my girl and things I've made

My little beauty loves to put on makeup like most little girls. She let me take a few pictures then told me "that's enough pictures".
Finally finished one of my pillowcases. I stamped this one back in October and finished it last night. I blame it on my sore hand.
Made this dress for me from pattern Simplicity 2570. It was a little tight at the top on me. I love the fabric it has a nice texture to it.

More thrifting on Friday

Ruby and I took a trip to Nashville and thrifted at some of my favorite places. We went to Goodwill on Nolensville Rd., Thrift Smart and Music City Thrift Store. We had a good day and found lots of deals.

Found this beautiful pillowcase for $1.00. It's not the best quality, but I'll use the embroidery on something else.Look at this adorable apron for $1.49. It was handmade and very detailed. Layla is modeling it more me.
Two sets of pillowcases that need to be embroidered. Can't wait to start on them. This is a canister for $1.99. Stamped on the bottom is " Woodpecker Woodware, made in Japan".
Looks like they made a lot of things in the 50's and 70's.

Lunch and thrifting

Had a wonderful lunch today with my good friend Jenene. We had a lot of catching up to do.

After lunch I made a trip to Our Thrift Store. I found lots of goodies. Their sheets are $1.00 each and the pillowcases are $.59 each. This bone china rabbit was $1.99 and so was the Williams Sonoma dishtowel.
Waverly fabric $8.99 for 5.25 yards Layla's learning to tell time so this clock should come in handy. It came from Goodwill for $2.99

Dress for Maureen

I made this prom dress for the very beautiful Maureen. Just met her a few weeks ago. She is so sweet. She picked out Simplicity 2639. She wanted it simple but elegant. Because I wanted the fit to be perfect I first made a muslin.

Layla's fu-fued dress

This is the dress I thrifted for $.99 here. I used the beautiful ribbons my Aunt Louise gave me a while back. I made the broach by using a running stitch and gathering and gluing a pin on the back, so it can be removed.

Great night at the ballfield. The Angels won their first game of the season. Layla was so excited. We got her a new bat and helmet today.

Vickie's things

Last Wednesday and Thursday Ashley, Mom and I went to Vickie's house and helped her husband and son clean up the basement and the house. We went through her clothes and some other belongings. I could wear so many of them. It was like she was my personal shopper and we had the same taste. Many were new with the tags still on them.

Here's a few other things I got.

We all had a good time laughing and crying. Vickie's favorite hymn was "Love Lifted Me". Ashley found a hymn book in a crate, the cover and first two hymns were torn out and the book was open to this song. We still have a lot more to do.

Relay purse

This is another purse I had made for the relay event. It's also Rebeka 's pattern at artyscraftybabe. They didn 't sell, but I have another chance to sell them, because we'll be having other events. Thanks Bekki. They are easy and a lot of fun to make.

Ruby's Easter Dress

Layla and Ruby both wanted the same Easter dress so I went to Hobby Lobby and found some fabric I knew Ruby would like ( it sparkles). Here it is in all it's glory. Sorry for the ugly background. On Easter I wil get a picture with the girls in their new clothes.

Relay event

They both went a little crazy with the face and body paint. Layla has "I love Lizards" on one arm and "I love Frogs" on the other and she's a cat. Not sure what Ruby supposed to be.

We all had a great time at the Relay for Life event on Saturday night. We made a little over $6,000. Can you believe it? Our goal is $10,000 and so far we've reached $8,000.

Thrift Score at Goodwill

Went to Goodwill store in Dickson last night and found some great stuff. These adorable dresses were $.99 each. I'm thinking of adding some lace or something to the lilac dress.
I think these are napkins. I can see an apron from these two. They were $.99 for both.

2 pillowcases $.99 each

These look like dish towels but were never used as that. Because they are still perfect. They really look homemade, but not sure. All 3 were $1.49

Brooch from hankie

I've been admiring Disney's blog at Ruffles and Stuff for quite some time and finally decided to try one of her projects. I used a hankie I brought at an antique store last summer. It didn't turn out as good as Disney's, but I like it and added the little pearl.

Phoebe bag for Relay

Rebeka from Artsy crafty babe gladly came me permission to sell these Phoebe bags at the Relay for Life benefit on Saturday. I've got more to make. Hope we make lots of money for the cancer society.

Easter purses and a new Easter dress

Got the purses made to match their cute dresses.

I had a problem with the dresses. They both want the one with the wide skirt. Can't blame them a bit. I originally made it for Layla, but they both can wear it. Yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and picked out some sparkly fabric. Hope that will satisfy Ruby.
