3 New Purses Made

I made this made from some wool fabric my Mom gave me. It's for my niece Ashley for Christmas. (By the way she loved it.) I use this pattern from Cold Hands Warm Heart blog. It was pretty fast and easy to do. Wish I had a pretty braid belt like she had.

Then I made 2 bags from Ana Graham at Noodlehead pattern.  I love making this bag and plan on making some to sell very soon. This one is my favorite, but I did make the other one.  The first one is made from corduroy for my Mom and she loved it. (She also made something for me, stay tuned).
This one is mine. I made from some fabric my dear friend Jenene gave me. Still have some left.

Amaryllis, Christmas tree and a finished quilt

First I wanted to show my beautiful Amaryllis. They are really easy to grow.

Then to show off my pretty tree. It doesn't change much from year to year.  That's okay I love it just the way it is.
Been working on this quilt for weeks and finally finished quilting. Another double wedding ring I found. All hand pieced and quilted by me. This one is mine. All mine.

Made more ornaments

I read Skook's blog last week and had to make some of these cute ornaments. She did an excellent job. We both ordered from Noia Land on etsy.  She has lots of others to choose from.  These are for my precious great-nephews Aiden and Princeton.

Then I had to make these for Ruby and Layla. They are obsessed with Adventure Land. Found these on Pinterest.

Making Ornaments

Hope everyone takes some time to sew some ornaments. They really are fun to make. I've got some others printed out to start on later.

Layla and Ruby really love Angry Birds so I've been searching for patterns.  First I found this one. I loved the idea of beanbags.  Then this post had some awesome patterns. These are Layla's and she wanted them to be beanbags. My husband (Dadoe) is making her a slingshot to use with these.
I really adored  this beautiful ornament on etsy. I made my own. Not as pretty but I like it.

I printed out this pattern last year and just now making it. Partridge pattern is here.
Then I made this lovely snowflake ornament found here.

Quilt for Layla and Ruby

I found this great queen size quilt top and had to have it. It took me about week, working 5 or 6 hours a day, but I finally finished it.  I love the curved corners.  I think it's called a double wedding ring.  It was hand pieced, so I thought it needed to be hand quilted.

Ruby is trying it out and I think she likes it.

Birdie Bag

This is the second time I've made this purse. I sold the first one and wanted one for myself. The pattern is taken from The Perfect Handmade Bag by Clare Youngs. I highly recommend this book. used it several times. The directions are really easy to follow.

The bag is eco friendly wool.  It's 11 inches wide with 3 inch gusset, and 11.5 inches long. The strap is 32 inches long. I hand embroidered the birds. Pattern is in the book also. The rings on the handles are key rings.

Owls For Layla's Class

My granddaughter Layla is in the 3rd grade.  Her class is featuring owls in some of their studies. So, she wanted me to make something for the class. I haven't added pins to the back yet.  I wish I could say these were totally my ideas, but I happen to see a pin and tried my best.  She has them for sale here.  I know Layla will love them.

Owl Brooch

Lately I have been loving owls. You can see the great ones I've pinned here on pinterest.
Found this at Walmart for $3.00. I clipped off the top loop, filed it and added a small amount of black sharpie.
Cut out one of the flowers from this thrifted scarf. I glued the charm to the flower, then added some felt on the back to add some stiftness and glued on a pin.

Kitty Cat Wall Hangings

In the late 1980's I made this wall hanging for my Mom.  I remember finding this pattern in an old Better Homes magazine. I had to enlarge the pieces by getting some 1 square inch graph paper and drawing the pattern. Around 2005 she gave it to my grandchild Layla. So I quilted it, put some soft backing on it and added binding trim. Her Mom had put it up during the move to their new house. She found it last week and Layla fell in love with it.  Ruby wanted me to make her one.
I had forgotton I made this one for my sister Vickie. When my niece Ashley was going through some of her things she found it and gave it back to me and I  put it up.

Just found it the other day and showed it to Ruby. I quilted and put new binding and a flannel back and she adores it.

Owl Bags

I made these cute little owl bags for my girls.  The pattern is from The Perfect Handmade Bag book. Really like this book. I've made several bags from it.  Of course they have their own design ideas.  I really like the fabrics they picked out.

Owl a little crooked.

Ruby wanted the pearl handle on her bag.

Layla wanted buttons on her bag and snaps on the inside.

At first she wouldn't smile so I had to make her laugh. She can't wait to show it off tomorrow.
