Our trip to Sarah Cannon Cancer Research

Wednesday I took Vickie to Sarah Cannon Research for her chemo. We got there at 9:30 AM and didn't get to leave until 4:00 PM. I stayed until after she saw the doctor, then decided to do some thrifting. I had researched and found 6 in the area of Charlotte Avenue in Nashville. My favorite was Unique Thrift Store. I did find some cute pillowcases at Goodwill on Charlotte. The Research Center is at Centennial Hospital and across from it is Centennial Park. I went for a 30 minute walk there and it was so beautiful and took these pictures with my cell phone. I would have loved to go in the Parthenon but it was closed.
Vickie stayed 2 nights with me and yesterday she was running a fever. During the night she had to go to the emergency room and was diagnosed with pneumonia.

My first block from Deb's quilt-along

First of all I've started my blocks for the pillowcase quilt on Deb's blog Work in Progress. I've completely finished 2 blocks and working on the others. It's not too late to join us.
My Aunt Lousie has been cleaning her sewing room and giving me bags of fabric and notions. I've also been going through mine and tossing out a lot, so I can make room for hers. She also gave me this apron to make.

A very Happy Birthday

Finally finished this doll dress. I was determined to get it finished before her party Friday. The fabric is pretty special because the lace and beads were used on Lori's wedding dress I made.Lori made this great cake by using my 2 bowls to bake the cake. Then added frosting, twizzlers for the legs, bubblegum for the eyes, candycorn for the teeth and an hourglass. Layla loved it. Spongebob and Barbie love.A lot of the kids dressed up. This is not Gene Simmons, but my nephew Dennis. Aiden is cutting teeth and not feeling very well. She looks like Evil Little Bo Peep with her eyeball pinata.Ruby a pumpkin with bat ears.

Gifts I've made

Today is Layla's birthday, so of course she had to have a number 6 shirt. The sweatshirt was new, but it came from a thrift store for $1.00. Added the chenille rick-rack, which I love.

A tween friend of the family wanted me to make her a polka-dot purse. She's 11 hope she likes it. I did use one of my favorite buttons.
Aiden should love this taggie.

My place

This is Anthony's house, mine is in the background. This land is behind Anthony on a hill, where Lori's house will sit on another road. It's ready for the house. We will be cutting some trees once the house is there.

Me and my Ruby

Ruby and I had a great day. We played outside, took pictures, and went shopping. It was a little cool this morning, but later today it was nice. She always finds some cute things at the thrift store. She took them home before I could get pictures. They will look great in her new room.

Lori's new house

My sweet daughter has been living in a very small (2 bedroom) trailer for 7 years now with her husband and 3 kids. Things just haven't worked out that she could have a house. We have the opportunity to buy a house that needs to be moved. It's only 5 miles away. We've checked with house movers and codes and it looks like we can move it on our property. As you can see from the pictures it has been taken of. It has 10 foot ceilings and beautiful lighting fixtures and window treatments. Lots of closets. The girls will have a room together and Jakob will finally have his own room. The outside is brick, so it will have to be removed when it's moved. Things are moving along pretty fast. I just know it will happen by Christmas.

Layla's blanket

So far for Layla's birthday I've made her this blanket. Fabric on sale for $5.99 a yard and I had a coupon for 50% off on the blanket binding. So very easy, although I had to use the walking foot because it was puckering.

My Dad and Aiden

Just wanted to post a sweet picture of my great-nephew Aiden. He doesn't look like he had surgery, until you see the scar going across his head. This is my Dad with Aiden. This was taken 3 weeks ago. I'm sure he's grown a lot more.

Crafting on a weeknight

All the Grandkids spent the night, so I had some new crafting to do with them. Got these at Joann's. They had 40% off which made it $4.79. I think there was at least 12 in the pack. No gluing was great. The colors were peel and stick. Holes were alreading in them. It was a lot of fun. No mess. Make your own faces. Layla took one to her teacher today.
Happy crafting.

Quilting with Deb

I'm starting my quilt project with Deb at Works in Progress. We're using 9 pillowcases to make a quilt. Go over and check it out. I don't have my camera today, so no pictures yet.

I've got a lot of things going on right now. My Layla will be turning 6 the 23rd and my husband is turning 60 on the 24th. We have parties planned and presents to make.

I have another surprise in our family. Can't wait to give the details, but it will be a great thing for Lori and her family.

Crafting on Saturday

I helped Layla and Ruby make these photo frames from the Martha Stewart crafts. We put magnets on the back. Layla made hers for her friend Maggie which is the picture. Ruby made hers for BB her cat. The bottom picture they made for my brother, Grandpa Jeff with baby Aiden.
Layla and I have been working on this hat for a while and finally finished it. This was from a kit, but would be so easy to create. All of it was done by hand. The back is cross stitched to make a pretty design. Gather the top and make pom pom's to add to the top.

Their ready to go to two birthday parties today.

Updates on my life

Saturday I decided I wanted to put up my clothesline I've had a few months. Thomas helped me put it up and it's ready to go. We went in to check on clothes in the dryer and guess what? The dryer wasn't heating at all. It is still under warranty and they should be here tomorrow to fix it. Isn't that strange?

I haven't finished painting Anthony's house yet, but we did put up the siding we bought. It looks like a different house. See the before picture here. When it stops raining I'll be finishing it.

Tutu's

Made the girls these cute Tutu's from Tea Rose Home. Ruby picked out all the colors and the roses (from Hobby Lobby). Layla thought she did a good job picking out her colors. They wore these to the Shriners Circus tonight. I told them "I hope the clowns don't try to take you two on tour with them". Their grandpa happens to be a clown in the circus.
