My new quilt

From flannel material I bought 2 years ago. Now I have time to finish. I've cut out the pieces and now sewing them together. Making it to fit my king size bed. Never made one that big. Hope I get it finished this winter.

Anthony and Lori 1987

This is the skeleton outfit I made Anthony. Probably didn't make the witch. It's been a while. They are still my babies.
This time for Jakob I will probably still use felt, but use "wonder under" instead of sewing.

More things for the birthday girl

Hope Layla likes her new outfits. She requested the Panda bear jumper, so I made Ruby the Bunny jumper. Embroidered the butterfly from my Brother SE-270D. All were made from my fabric stash. That's the best, when you don't have to buy new material. Layla loves camouflage, so I gave her 2 looks. She may want a girly look.

Sewing and thrifting

Made a vest for Layla's Birthday from this skirt I bought at Goodwill. I blanket stitched the edges. Hope she likes it.This accessory holder came from Goodwill for $1.99. It came in handy for my buttons. Wasn't sure what I was going to use it for until today.
Got these today at a couple thrift stores. The pattern came from my Mom. I made the skeleton outfit for my son when he was 10. Got the black material at Goodwill and thought I would make this for Jakob.

Layla's birthday coming up

Been working on things for Layla. Her birthday is the 23rd. She's having a Halloween birthday party on Saturday evening.

Got more to make. She has put in a few request.
She wants to be a black widow spider for Halloween. Here's what I've done so have. Haven't perfected it yet.

Our Anniversary

Today Thomas and I celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. We spent the day together taking him to the doctor office at 8:00, we ate breakfast at Shoneys, then we came home. His knee is still hurting a lot. The doctor thinks it is getting better. We did have a great day together. We celebrate our lives together every day. I am very blessed.

Here we are on October 17th 1975
And here we are this past summer in St. Augustine, Florida. Have we changed much?

Old pattern

My Mom gave me this old pattern she's had since I was a child. She ordered from Progressive Farmer magazine. When I was 17 I made Thomas' daughter the outfits below. The blue dress has the same ribbon as the aprons I made. They are doubleknit material.

Knee surgery

We've had a lot going on in my household. My husband Thomas had surgery on his knee Tuesday morning. He had a rough day, then at 6:00 pm called the doctor and we meet him at his office. His knee was so swollen and he screamed with pain all 30 minutes to the doctor. Blood had backed up in his knee and it look like it could burst. He cut a slit in the knee and let the blood pour out. So it bleed pretty good all night and went back to his office this morning at 8:00. It is better and he'll go back Friday to see him. He will probably be off work for at least 2 weeks.

Old Halloween outfits and pears

Got out all the Halloween outfits I've made for Jakob over the years. Indian was the first one.

Sunday picked pears and apples at my Dad's. Pear tree had some huge ones. My brother drove the tractor with a scoop on the front and lifted me and my nephew Dennis to the top of the tree and we hand picked them. Put most of them in the freezer, made pear preserves and some in the fridge. Still need to put up the apples. My hands are really feeling it.

Rain and a quilting day

We had a nice steady rain today. A good day to stay in and finish my quilt. Ruby had proclaimed it is her quilt weeks ago. She didn't care that there wasn't any binding on it. I hand quilted, stitched in the ditch on most of it and machine stitched around the border. It really feels good to have it finished.

The weekend

It was a nice weekend. Lori got to go to Houston Friday night to visit her husband. He's working there to help clean up and rebuild. Saturday was Jason's birthday and he wanted to see her for his birthday. She came back last night. The grandkids called him and wished him a happy birthday.

My parents and brothers and niece came over Sunday and had dinner with us. The grandkids had spent Saturday night with Jason's parents and got to go to the Shirners Circus. They rode elephants and a pony. The grandparents brought them to my house Sunday afternoon.

The temperatures here are still very nice. Tomorrow we are supposed to get rain. It's been a month.

Today I finished painting my garage floor and painted the walls. I am worn out.
Finally got a picture of Jakob

Fun day with the grandkids

Made pillows for Layla and Ruby.

We made a tent. Later when I took it down I heard Layla talking to her dolls and letting them know I'm not invited to her birthday party (did she forget about the gifts?).
Playing in the tent. Layla's remake of Little Bunny FuFu.

My unexpected family reunion & some thrifting

Today was a beautiful day here , temps in the upper 70's. My Dad and I went to my Aunt Mildred's for a short reunion. My Uncle Charles, Aunt Charlotte and my cousin Jesse visited on their way back home (to Georgia) from a visit to Chicago to visit their son Jason and family. This is Aunt Beverly from Nashville . Later both of my brothers came by.
Aunt Mildred's roses in full bloom.
She gave me these hen and chicks and this other plant. Not sure what it is.
Aunt Mildred, Daddy, Uncle Charles, Aunt Charlotte, Jesse
Lori, the grandkids and I visited Vickie yesterday and stayed all day. She was in high spirits and played with the kids. Today she wasn't able to come to Aunt Mildred's. She wasn't feeling well. Lori and I stopped in Spring Hill at Goodwill and got a tin for my flour and a cute little cup that looks so familiar. They just had one.
Also got these sheets and 2 pillowcases.
Thanks for stopping by.
